Google Pixel 11 Launches Tonight. Here’s Everything Expected at Made by Google.
Tonight at 6PM ET in New York City, Google holds its Made by Google event — and for the first time in Pixel history, you can pre-order Pixel 11 before the event even ends. Google and Best Buy published a countdown timer set to expire at 7AM PT, several hours before the event begins. That kind of pre-order confidence is new territory for Google, and it signals the company believes this is its strongest Pixel lineup yet.
Here’s everything confirmed and credibly leaked ahead of the event.
The Tensor G6: The Biggest Upgrade in Pixel History
Every Pixel 11 model runs on Google’s new Tensor G6 chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process — the same cutting-edge node Apple uses for its A-series chips. Tensor G6 on 2nm represents the biggest chipset leap the Pixel line has ever taken.
Previous Tensor chips were often criticised for running warm and falling behind Snapdragon equivalents on raw performance. The jump to 2nm changes that significantly. A 2nm chip is more powerful, more efficient, and generates substantially less heat than its predecessors. For Pixel users who remember struggling with overheating during extended camera use or navigation, this is the fix they’ve been waiting for.
The chip also brings enhanced on-device AI processing, which matters more than ever given that Google is replacing Assistant with Gemini on Android starting September 4. More powerful Tensor hardware means more of Gemini’s capabilities can run locally, without a cloud round-trip.
What’s in the Lineup
Four devices are expected tonight.
Pixel 11, the base model, expected to start at around $799. Google is reportedly making 256GB the minimum storage option across the Pixel 11 lineup, eliminating the 128GB configuration, a welcome upgrade that reflects how much storage modern AI features and camera systems consume.
Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL, the Pro lineup arrives simultaneously with the standard model, a pattern Google has held since the Pixel 9. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL are expected to retain a triple-camera setup consisting of a 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide with macro, and 48MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Leaks point to up to 120x digital zoom. The Pro XL brings a 6.8-inch OLED display at 120Hz and a 5,115mAh battery.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google’s foldable entry has historically launched later than the rest of the lineup, and that pattern may repeat. Tonight’s event will confirm it officially, but availability could slip to October.
Alongside the phones, the Pixel Watch 5 is confirmed. A Pixel Tag, Google’s answer to Apple AirTag, has also been rumoured, though nothing has leaked to confirm it.
Gemini Intelligence: The Real Differentiator
Hardware specs matter, but Google’s pitch for the Pixel 11 is built around software. Gemini Intelligence finally gives Google a genuine AI differentiator with real hardware teeth. The Pixel 11 is the first phone designed from the ground up to run Gemini natively — not as an app bolted on top, but as the operating layer underneath everything.
New features teased by Google include HiLight, an AI feature that automatically identifies and highlights the best moments in long video recordings. Combined with Gemini’s conversational interface taking over from Assistant, the Pixel 11 is positioned as the first phone where AI assistance feels integrated rather than optional.
The Price Question
Price hikes are expected across the board. Google’s August 12 event brings the Pixel 11 series with price hikes expected for all products. Rising memory chip prices — the same dynamic driving Samsung’s record profits — are pushing component costs higher across the Android market. Google absorbed those costs on the Pixel 10; it appears less willing to do so this year.
Pre-orders open tonight. Wide availability is expected on August 20, 2026 — one week after tonight’s announcement.
